The goal of education is:
- to educate professional social workers who are able to prevent and solve problems concerned with the human and social environment by using theories on human behaviour and social systems based on human rights and social justice principles in order to strengthen social integration and relations of democracy.
- to establish and keep the harmony between humans and social environment.
Goals of education:
In the BA social work training, after having acquired the complex social, pedagogical and psychological basis, the graduates will be able to identify causal relationships, to think in systems, to understand social phenomena, and to assist the vulnerable groups in society. With this specific degree related to the helping profession, the students will obtain skills and competencies required mostly by the employers (e.g. tolerance, empathy, loyalty, problem solving). We provide a training which makes is possible to use resources better and more integrated in the labour market and employment system, as well as in other areas (e.g. family support and child protection services, local governments, crime prevention, youth protection, social informatics, pedagogy, social development).
System of knowledge checking:
The assessment of the compliance with the requirements is performed with the obtainment of marks of continuous control of achievement, examinations (at the end of given semesters), comprehensive examinations, completing professional practice, completing the final examination, completing and defending a thesis. The examinations are partially interdependent.
Diplomas are issued on the condition of obtaining a middle level, C-type examination of a living language acknowledged by the Hungarian Republic or equivalent to it.

The requirements of thesis and the credits assigned to it:
The thesis is a written paper in an appropriate topic of the academic specialisation and proves that the student knows the Hungarian and international literature in connection with the topic and is able to carry out empirical research based on relevant theories in order to solve educational and pedagogical problems.
Its credit number is 7% of the full training credits, that is 15 credits. The thesis is assessed by a professional opponent. The assessment includes the level of its acceptability and proposes the mark.
Requirements of the final exam (according to Ftv. 95. § (3) ):
The requirements of the final exam include the compliance of all the exams and subjects, the compliance of the foreign language knowledge exam according to the institution's regulations, the compliance of professional and the thesis assessment of the opponent showing that the thesis is acceptable and can be defended.
Parts of the final exam and its assessment:

defence of the thesis;

complex oral examination which covers both the theoretical and practical knowledge of the field

the mark of the final exam is the arithmetical mean of the comprehensive exams and the thesis defence. (If the defence of the thesis is unsuccessful, or any of the oral exams is fail (1), or the result of the final exam is fail (1), the exam must be taken again.

The length and characteristics of professional practice:
The total number credits assigned to professional practice is 60 which means 976 hours (48.4 %/ of full time training). Forms: group or individual practice in field, seminars and group work in connection with fieldwork, and contiguous fieldwork. The contiguous professional practice is 30 credits in addition to this.

Obtainment of a BA degree enables the holder to register for MA level education.
Obtainment of a degree within the faculty enables the holder to register for university education and to register for additional specialization training courses.
